Midday meal program is serving lunch to 15,000 School Students around the Nellore District.

Food For Life

Hare Krishna devotees around the world bring much-needed food relief to people suffering from wars, natural disasters, homelessness and poverty. Our founder-acarya Srila Prabhupada instructed the devotees that no-one should go hungry within a ten mile radius of our temples.
The food consists of pure vegetarian ingredients (grains, dairy produce, vegetables and fruit, but no meat, fish or eggs) cooked with love and offered to Krishna. This is known as Krishna-prasadam, or the mercy of Krishna. In this way, not only are peoples' bodies nourished but prasadam also gives spiritual benefit, ultimately resulting in love of Krishna and relief from the four material miseries (birth, disease, old age and death).

To fulfill the desire of Srila Prabhupada

Srila Prabhupada instructed the devotees that the prasadam of the Lord should be distributed to the public at large. To fulfill the desire of Prabhupada, in Nellore devotees are arranging for Prasad distribution whenever there are interested donors helping us with funds. Prasadam distribution is done in various old age homes, Jails and orphanages. ISKCON Nellore has launched the Midday Meal Program for the needy school children. Midday Meal Program

Start Up Expenses:
The initial setup cost to start the Midday Meal Program was in excess of Rs. 50 Lakhs, this covered refurbishing the kitchen building, equiping the kitchen and purchase of 4 vans for distributing the meals to the schools. Loans were taken to cover a major part of this expense, these loans have to be repaid.

Transportation Facility:
To dispatch the Meals to various schools around the city specialised vans have been purchased at a cost of Rs. 5 Lakhs each. Four vans have already been purchased and two more will be required in the near future.

The Midday Meal Program may eventually cover the whole of Nellore District but is currently providing meals to over 15,000 school children in the Sri Potti Sriramulu District.

Donations are required to repay the loans taken to cover the Start Up expenses and vans. Donations for other services like buying groceries, vegetables and other arrangements like fuel, labour, maintenance of the kitchen etc are also welcomed. Contact Us for more details.

6 Vans - Your name and details can be displayed on the van if you donate the full cost of the van. At present only 1 van has been sponsored
